The number one cause of ordering errors is an incorrectly identified model. iPhone 13 or 13 Pro, Galaxy A52 or A53, original Switch or OLED: the parts look alike but are not interchangeable. This guide shows, device by device, where to find the exact model number to specify before ordering.
The principle: the marketing name is not enough
The same marketing name often covers several versions (4G/5G, regions, revisions) that do not always use the same parts. The manufacturer's technical reference (model number) removes any doubt: this is what you should compare with the “Compatible with” list on each Kintora product page.
iPhone
- In Settings: Settings › General › About. “Model Name” gives the marketing name; tapping “Model Number” switches it to a reference such as A2633.
- If the iPhone no longer switches on: on recent models, the model number is engraved inside the SIM tray slot; on older models, it is on the back of the device.
- Watch out for close relatives: the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro, 14 and 14 Plus, 12 and 12 Pro sometimes share parts, but often do not. Rely on the compatibility list on the product page.
Samsung Galaxy
- In Settings: Settings › About phone › Model number, such as SM-A536B.
- Reading the model number: the letters after “SM-” indicate the range (A, S, M, Z…), the digits the model, and the final letter the regional variant. A “B” (Europe) variant and a “U” (United States) variant may use different parts.
- Phone switched off: the model number is also shown on the box label and, on some models, on the SIM tray.
Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco, Huawei, Honor, Oppo
- Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco: Settings › About phone › All specs › Model (reference such as 2201117TY).
- Huawei and Honor: Settings › About phone › Model (reference such as VOG-L29 or ANY-NX1).
- Oppo: Settings › About device › Model (reference such as CPH2xxx).
- Phone switched off: label on the box, or sticker under the battery on models with a removable battery.
Games consoles
| Console | Where to find the model number | Model numbers to know |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch | Label on the back of the console | HAC-001 (original version), HAC-001(-01) (second version), HDH-001 (Switch Lite), HEG-001 (Switch OLED) |
| PS5 | Label under the stand or on the back | CFI-10xx, 11xx, 12xx (original model), CFI-20xx (PS5 Slim) |
| PS4 | Label on the back | CUH-10xx to 12xx (original model), CUH-2xxx (Slim), CUH-7xxx (Pro) |
| Xbox Series | Label on the back | Model 1882 (Series X), 1883 (Series S) |
| Steam Deck | Settings › System, or label on the back | LCD version or OLED version |
Different revisions of the same console do not always use the same fans, disc drives or ports: the exact model number prevents mistakes.
Laptops
- Label on the underside of the laptop: model name (for example ASUS X515EA, Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15IIL05) and often a more specific product number (P/N).
- In Windows: Settings › System › About, or the msinfo32 command (“System Model”).
- For the screen and keyboard: the reference of the part itself is the most reliable; see our laptop screen and laptop keyboard guides.
Good habits before ordering
- Note down the technical model number, not just the marketing name.
- Compare it with the “Compatible with” list on the product page.
- If in doubt, take a photo of the label or the original part and send us the photo: we will check before shipping.
