A screen that lifts, a back that gapes, glue seeping onto the display: bonding is part of what makes a quality repair. Liquid glue or pre-cut adhesive, clear or black: this guide helps you choose according to the part.
Liquid glue or pre-cut adhesive?
| Liquid glue (B-7000, T-7000 type) | Pre-cut adhesive | |
|---|---|---|
| Use | All models, irregular surfaces, small parts | Specific model: screen, back, battery |
| Application | Applied by hand, drying time required | Immediate, even thickness |
| Finish | Depends on the amount applied | Clean and repeatable |
| Future disassembly | More difficult if too much glue is used | Made easier by heat |
Common liquid glues
- B-7000: clear semi-liquid glue, the most versatile (screen frames, glass, small parts). It stays flexible once dry.
- T-7000: same use, but black: handy for screen edges and dark frames, where a clear glue would be visible.
- Drying: keep the part under pressure for several hours; full strength is generally reached after 24 to 48 h. Let the customer know if they need to avoid putting strain on the phone in the meantime.
Pre-cut adhesives
- Screen adhesive or waterproof seal: fits the exact outline of the model. Recommended for iPhone and recent Samsung models.
- Back adhesive (back glass): essential after removing a glued-on back.
- Battery adhesive strips: to be replaced every time the battery is changed.
Best practice
- Remove all the old glue and degrease with isopropyl alcohol before bonding.
- Apply sparingly: an even bead is enough; excess glue spills onto the display or gets in the way of the flex cables.
- Never bond a battery with liquid glue: use the adhesive strips or the adhesive designed for it.
- Once a device has been opened, original water resistance is never guaranteed, even with a new seal: inform the customer.
